Imphal: One person was killed and five others were injured after an armed clash broke out between two rival Naga factions in a remote forested area of Manipur’s Noney district on August 29, according to reports.

The gunfight took place in the Khumji area, a remote and heavily forested part of the district. The confrontation involved the JUF-Jenchui (ZUF-J) and JUF-Kamson (ZUF-K) factions of the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF).
The difficult terrain has reportedly made it challenging for security forces to reach the location. As a result, authorities had not yet conducted a detailed assessment of the situation when the initial reports emerged. Officials had also not issued a formal account of the incident at the time of reporting.
