Parliamentary panel to launch website to invite suggestions on simultaneous polls

NEW DELHI, Mar 11: The parliamentary committee reviewing the ‘one nation, one election’ bills is set to launch a dedicated website aimed at gathering suggestions from citizens nationwide regarding this matter. P P Chaudhary, the chairman of the Joint Committee on the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024, along with the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024, emphasized that the committee is committed to operating with complete transparency and ensuring that all individuals have the opportunity to express their opinions on the topic of simultaneous elections.

Additionally, the committee has received insights from former Chief Justice of India and current Rajya Sabha member Ranjan Gogoi, as well as former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Rajendra Menon. Chaudhary noted that a presentation regarding the website was conducted for the committee members, and the committee will also publish an advertisement soliciting memoranda from across the nation concerning simultaneous elections.
