The impact of the violence has been widespread, forcing 58,881 people to flee their homes and become internally displaced persons (IDPs) as of March 30, 2026. These individuals continue to live in relief camps or temporary shelters, highlighting the prolonged nature of the crisis.

The RTI was filed by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee leader Hareshwar Goshwami, seeking detailed information on the condition of displaced people and the extent of damage caused. While responses to several queries have been provided, authorities are still compiling additional data related to relief camp conditions, deaths among displaced persons, and medical support for those suffering from serious illnesses.

In terms of property damage, the figures reveal large-scale destruction. 7,894 houses have been completely destroyed, while another 2,646 homes have suffered partial damage since the violence began. This widespread loss of housing has further deepened the humanitarian crisis in the state.

Reports also indicate that over 30 people remain missing, adding to the uncertainty and distress faced by affected families.

To address the crisis, the central government has sanctioned significant financial assistance. Funds amounting to over ₹424 crore have been approved for the operation of relief camps, along with additional allocations for rehabilitation and resettlement of displaced individuals.

Despite these measures, the data underscores the continuing challenges in restoring normalcy in Manipur. Nearly three years after the outbreak of violence, thousands remain displaced, and the process of rehabilitation is still ongoing.
