According to officials, nearly 8,500 personnel will be engaged in the counting exercise scheduled for May 4. This includes counting staff, supervisors, and micro-observers who will be stationed across multiple counting centres in the state.
The counting will take place simultaneously across all constituencies, beginning in the morning under tight security arrangements. Officials have emphasised strict adherence to guidelines laid down by the Election Commission to maintain accuracy and transparency throughout the process.
In addition to personnel deployment, elaborate security measures have been put in place. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are being guarded in strong rooms under constant surveillance, and only authorised individuals will be allowed access during counting.
The large-scale deployment reflects the importance of ensuring a credible and efficient counting process, as the results—set to be declared on May 4—will determine the composition of the next Assam Legislative Assembly.
