Imphal, October 21, 2026: The Federation of Haomee has urged people across Manipur to participate in a statewide noise protest on October 23, calling on residents to express their frustration over the prolonged crisis and the continued lack of lasting peace and security in the state.

According to the organisation, the 30-minute protest will be held from 7:30 pm to 8 pm, during which people have been asked to raise slogans, bang utensils and honk vehicle horns to convey their collective resentment.

The appeal was made through a video message circulated on social media from the western gate of Kangla Fort in Imphal. The federation has called for widespread public participation in the demonstration.

The organisation said the proposed protest aims to highlight the continuing insecurity and the difficulties faced by people amid the prolonged unrest in Manipur.

The state has been affected by ethnic violence since May 2023, resulting in hundreds of deaths and the displacement of thousands of people. Despite changes in the state administration and repeated assurances of restoring normalcy, concerns over civilian safety, law and order, and lasting peace continue to persist.

The Federation of Haomee has appealed to people across the hill and valley districts to join the symbolic protest and make their voices heard over the prevailing situation.

The proposed demonstration is intended to serve as a collective expression of public dissatisfaction and to draw attention to the urgent need for peace, security and a lasting resolution to the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
